10 Life Stories My Family Always Tells

Here are just 10 of the Life Stories that are always told at our family gatherings (they aren't all about me because I wasn't that funny as a child, I guess! It's fine though, now I'm hilarious.).

Me:

1) I always cried. Like constantly for the first 2 years of my life. I'm convinced this is a lie that was made up for no good reason. I mean, who could survive if all they ever did was cry?! And here I am, alive and well.

2) As a teenager, my 2 best friends and I always used each other's houses as "where we were spending the night" when we were actually sneaking off to an all night party. Every time, my one friend would forget her toothbrush or socks or something and end up asking me if she left them at the party...in front of my mother. To this day, my mom calls her the dumbest friend I have, with love.

3) My mom can't count how many of my friends she caught sneaking out of my brother's bedroom window when we were teens. He was apparently pretty cute.

4) My mom's baby sister (who was of legal drinking age) got me to spend the night with her when I was about 12. She then proceeded to the nearest daiquiri shop (we lived in Louisiana) to get our drinks for the night. My parents were there getting drinks too. They waved at her through an open window. And I was not allowed to spend the night with her again until she was "married and matured", per my parents.

5) Once, I thought my parents went to the grocery store at the other end of town. I took my mom's truck, went to a friends house down the road, and came right back home. They were at the gas station across from our house watching the whole thing.

My baby sister:

6) My sister was born when I was 15. She had a problem using the bathroom. We rubbed her belly and sang to her, "Come out poo poo, come out".

7) When she learned to crawl, she looked like a dog with one broken leg trying to cross the road.

8) Again because she had problems using the bathroom, when she started eating lotion - which she called lotious - my grandmother said to let her, it helped the poo come out.

9) When she was a toddler, we learned she passes out at the sight of blood. If she bled, she would yell "I'm blooding" and pass smooth out.

10) One year for school pictures, my mom sent her to school in what I can only describe as a dress made of curtains. There's proof of this one still. As beautiful as she is, that dress - the horror!

I've come to terms with the fact that we may never live these down.

Walmart Winter 2014 Beauty Box

I'm not going to lie, I was a little worried about getting this box. I started seeing other people post about it on YouTube and Instagram and thought, "Where's mine?" I thought maybe I signed up incorrectly to get the on-going subscription. But finally! It came in the mail!!

The first things I took out were the L'Oreal Paris Olio Therapy Shampoo & Conditioners. I didn't open these yet, but can't wait to try them!

Next, I saw this Nivea Cocoa Butter lotion packet. Now I have a sample of this on my bathroom counter right now, so I won't open this one until I need to.

I was so excited to see face wipes - I have an addiciton! I try all the ones I can, even from the dollar stores. I haven't tried these Olay ones yet, so I will now.

Of course, I've used up quite a few of these Jergens BB Body lotions. I really like the formula and will use this one up pretty quickly I'd imagine!

Next, I saw a lippie! Yay! This is the Maybelline lipstick in Maple Kiss. I think it's a lovely fall mauve color and have already worn it.

Last, there was this Maybelline Dream Wonder powder sample and coupon. I haven't yet used this but will soon. I hope I like it!

I was so pleased with this box. I mean, it's inexpensive and I get to try lots of different products and some favorites! Can't beat it!

Target's Beauty Box ~ Naturals

When I ordered the Target Beauty Box For Her, I went ahead and got the Naturals Beauty Box as well. I knew I'd want to try all the products! It had a few less products than the Beauty Box For Her, but still a great value at $5!

The first thing I saw was this Acure Brightening Facial Scrub. I had tried this in the past, it was a Birchbox subscription item. I really liked it so I was excited to see it in this box!

Next, I saw this SkinFix lotion. I stuck this in my purse and have used it multiple times. It does moisturize; my only issue is that it is a bit greasy feeling while it's absorbing.

Next, I got the Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie - what a name! I do not have curly hair at all, so I put this in my eDivv pile. If you're not familiar with eDivv, it's a makeup trading site. I've gotten some really great products from great people!

Then, I was so excited to see these Burt's Bees facial cleansing towelettes! I don't normally purchase Burt's Bees because while it is a drug store item/ brand, it tends to be on the higher, more expensive end of things. I usually go with the less expensive products.

Of course, they put something in my box that I cannot pronounce :) I have yet to try this out. I have so many cleansers and such in my shower already! But it looks very interesting.

Now we've got some shampoo from SoapBox. I love getting this size shampoos. I use them for travel and sometimes in between shampoo hauls! This has Argan Oil in it, so yay!

That was everything in the Target Naturals Beauty Box and I am so happy to have them all! Like I said, the box was $5 + free shipping. I did purchase it at the same time as the Target Beauty Box For Her (see that post here) so that may be why the shipping was free, I'm not sure.

Revlon HD Lacquer in Garnet - This is so pretty (see a swatch in the video!) It's like a dark bubble gum pink color

If I Ever Get Famous, You'll Be Glad You Read This

I have a little booklet/ notepad thing to keep quotes and jokes in. I don't know what happened, I used to use it so much! Now I couldn't find it if I tried, but I do know I still have it....somewhere.

I have always been in love with quotes and since the dawn of Pinterest and other social media sites, I've become overwhelmed with good ones! It's really hard to try and keep any of them written down - I'd spend all my days writing and getting hand cramps! So instead, I pin or save or like.

But my all time favorite quote is this:

When I stand before God at the end of my life, I would hope that I would not have a single bit of talent left, and could say, 'I used everything you gave me'. - Erma Bombeck

This quote speaks to me. It is exactly what I hope to achieve in this life. I hope that by the end of my days, I have used everything God gave me to make the world a better, safer, or happier place. Or to make someone's life easier or simpler or happier. And you can quote me on that! If one day I'm famous and then I die, you'll be like, "Oh wow, I read her blog once. She was funny. Well, she was okay. But I do remember her favorite quote!"

I Hate to Cook ~ Here's an Easy Recipe!!

I am by no means Betty Crocker. I don't like to cook. I get angry, sometimes, when I do have to cook. Can we call that cangry?

My husband thinks that if I cook more and practice, I will enjoy it. He. Is. So. Wrong.

But!! Last year I found this recipe on Pinterest.com and I'm not as angry when I cook it. And I enjoy eating it!

Peach Dumplings:

Ingredients
  • 1 or 2 cans sliced peaches (original recipe calls for peaches to be peeled and pitted - um, no)
  • 2 - 8 oz. cans crescent dinner rolls
  • 2 sticks of butter
  • 1-1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • Cinnamon to taste
  • 1 can Mountain Dew
Cooking Directions:

  • Roll 1 - 2 peach slices in 1 crescent roll.
  • Place them all in a buttered 9x13 pan (I use a glass dish)
  • Melt butter and slowly add sugar and stir lightly
  • Add vanilla and stir
  • Pour entire mixture over peaches/ crescent rolls
  • Pour Mountain Dew around edges of the pan
  • Sprinkle with cinnamon
  • Bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes
  • Optional: Serve with ice cream
It's simple and tasty - two of my favorite things!

What are you cooking up this holiday season?

Blogging & Vlogging Inspiration

I really like posting to this blog and posting videos here.

The only thing is - it's not always easy to keep the creative juices flowing. I've found that since becoming pregnant, it's even harder. There are so many things I can do, so many ideas! But getting it all in order to execute is a whole other story.

So, lately I've been following Mama Kat. I don't even remember how I found her blog or YouTube channel, but I'm so glad I did!

You can click this link to get to her blog: http://www.mamakatslosinit.com/

Or click this link to get to her YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/MamaKatTV

The reason I'm so glad I found her? She gives weekly blogging prompts and weekly writing workshops. So if ever I'm in a slump, I can check out what she has going on for that week (or the next) and decide if I want to join the fun!

What I really like about this idea is that I also find other channels and blogs to follow. See, once you link up, it's polite to visit other pages and comment on their blog post or video. So far, I've found several really funny, great ladies to follow! And I believe I've gotten YouTube followers based on videos I've linked and lots of sweet comments on my blog posts. We're sharing the love!!

This is just a short post - just to let you know about these workshops. If you need the inspiration, it's there for you :)

What Football Sundays Really Mean

When I met my husband I knew he was a sports fan. It's one of the things we have in common - we both love MLB and the NFL...he is also a fan of the NBA and some other sports I'm not really into. But it all worked out.

One thing that really makes life interesting is that we don't root for the same teams. I'm a hardcore St. Louis Cardinals fan, he is a life-long Chicago Cubs fan. I am a die-hard New Orleans Saints fan, he prefers the Chicago Bears (I know, a southern boy who likes the Bears?!) It's all very fun when our teams play one another!

I guess we had been dating a few months before football season started. I knew he was in several fantasy football leagues and figured we'd watch a few games, no big deal.

Little did I know about Football Sunday.

The first Sunday of football season, we wake up, make breakfast, watch a church service on tv and then it happens. He asks me, "Are you ready for Football Sunday?", with a big grin on his face. I say yes, and that I'm super excited!

We get ready and head to Buffalo Wild Wings...you know because of the 30 TV's all tuned into different football games. Still, no big deal.

We watch our teams' games, eat some lunch; it's a good time.

About 4 in the afternoon, I'm thinking it's about time to head home (we dated long distance and it was my turn to make the drive back home). But we weren't on the same page, as we kept sitting there he ordered more food and drinks.

Finally, I asked when he thought he'd be ready to go home. He said right before the night game. By now, I'm thinking he's crazy! We've been here basically all day!

That is the day I learned exactly what Football Sunday really meant. It meant Football. All Day. The entire Sunday. Every Sunday of football season.

I married him, so I guess I'm ok with it. But we have a little one on the way and I doubt we'll be able to leave the house every Sunday next year and hang out at BWW. And he's crazy if he thinks I'm missing a Saints game....

My 2nd Target Beauty Box ~ What's Inside?

To see what I got in my 1st Target Beauty Box, click here.

I've got to tell you, I'm really pleased with this one, but the first one was $2 cheaper.

For $7 plus shipping, I got 3 beauty type deluxe sample sized products and 2 full sized products.

Let's look at the box/ packaging:

It's the same outer packaging as the last box; with the Target logo in red and black. This is a sleeve that slides right off and you have a plain white box. I don't mind the white box - it can be used for Christmas gifts!

When you open the box, there's that same Hello Beautiful card that I loved so much in the last one.
I'm not going to lie to you, I did not open that card and read what was inside. If I did, I don't remember a thing that it said - pregnancy brain!!

After removing the card, I see all my beauty items:
Sorry for the bad pics! And that you have to see my toes.

Immediately I was so happy to see the Nyx Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk. I cannot tell you how many times I tried to find that in a drugstore and couldn't. I was just about to break down and order it online. So glad I didn't! I've since used these products and love, love, love this eye pencil!!
I've seen a lot of ladies on YouTube use it as a base and also to brighten or intensify their eye shadow color. I've used it for both, and this box was worth every penny because of it!

Next, I pulled out the lippie - because I'm addicted!!

And how happy am I?! I love nude lip colors! This is the L'Oreal Extraordinaire by Colour Riche in Nude Ballet. It's a long name, but the formula is great and I'm in love. I've worn this several times, usually with a heavier, darker eye, and can't get enough!! Here is my review of the same formula lipstick in a different color: L'Oreal Paris Lippie Review

The next item I tried is the L'Oreal Paris Elnett Satin Hairspray.

The claims on the spray are: Extra Strong Hold Hairspray that disappears at the stroke of a brush. I'm a little confused by this. I'm assuming they mean the crispy, hairspray texture disappears and it doesn't leave any kind of white residue if your hair is brushed through.

I did use it and it did hold. I am not 100% sold on this yet, but it's hairspray and I'll, at the very least, use it until it's all gone.

Now on to a hair product I love:
This is the Fekkai (no idea how to pronounce that) Blowout Hair Refresher Dry Shampoo.
It is exactly what it claims to be - a dry shampoo. But the smell, oh the scent of it, I love! And it works great too! I may have to switch from my holy grail Batiste to this.

Lastly, I pulled out the Laneige BB Cushion:
The card states this is sold exclusively at Target. If that is the case, it was a good idea putting it in the box. Otherwise, I'd have had no idea.

The cushion they show in the picture is obviously larger than the sample we get, but I bet it feels similar to handling a beauty blender type of sponge.

They give us 1 cushion and 3 skin tone colors to choose from:
I am the lightest shade. I did use this. It is very much light coverage. I was expecting this but maybe not expecting it to be so watery.

The color match was spot on. I wonder if I'm just that color or does it kind of match all light skin tones that well? Let me know if you have it or have used it.

Lastly, here are the claims:

Brighten
Protect
Cool and Hydrate
Prevents Shine
Perfects Long Lasting Coverage

I only used it one day and have not decided it the claims are correct. But I will update if I continue to use this. And please, let me know what you gals think of this product!!

Overall, I am so please with this Target Beauty Box and can't wait to see what they do in the Spring!

ChapStick Hydration Lock ~ Dual Ended ~ Review

A few weeks ago I received a small package in the mail from Birchbox. I opened it because I'd completely forgotten why I'd be getting an extra package from them. I found 2 dual ended ChapStick with Hydration Lock to try out and review.

The first one I tried was the Day/ Night version.

I really like that the Day side has SPF 12. It will help protect my lips and hopefully keep them from looking dry and old or cracked.

I did use this several times at night and it's not bad. I always sleep with some sort of ChapStick on my lips just because I don't like dry lips even while I sleep. I didn't notice a lot of caking or drying out while I slept. This will definitely come in handy for traveling since I will keep it in my purse (for the SPF) and can just not worry about packing a night time lip balm anymore!

I keep the Moisture/ Renew ChapStick at work and use it regularly throughout my work day. I have noticed that the Renew side doesn't keep my lips as moisturized as long as the other end. Obviously, the Moisturizing side does exactly that. I don't feel the need to reapply as often with this end.

Now, as far as having dual ended ChapSticks, the Day/ Night one will be handier to have in my purse. The Moisture/ Renew side, I'm not so sure about. Yes, it's nice to have at my desk, but I find myself using the Moisture end way more than the Renew end. Maybe once I've used that side all up, I can switch over to the Renew end.

Have you tried these ChapSticks? If so, what are your thoughts on them? I'd love to hear which one you use the most.

Note: I received these items from Birchbox for review purposes.

The Dumbest Thing I've Ever Done

It's as bad as you think. It's awful, horrible, dumb.

Before I tell you about the dumbest thing I've ever done, let me tell you a little about myself:

I am a geek, a nerd, a lover of the odd.

I am more country than I'd like to admit.

I was raised in one of those small towns where everyone knew everyone's business (and never let you forget it!).

I am addicted to chocolate - or at least I was until I got pregnant. No matter what I do, I can't get this kid to make me crave chocolate, it's a scary thing!

I love Star Wars and The Lord of the Rings. I mean, I love them.

I love to read. I'm a big fan of Stephen King but the older I get, the less I can handle the scary stories.

I collect gift bags. Not even to reuse! I just collect them...I'm a bag lady.

I have what some people tell me is obsessive compulsive disorder. I will read this very blog post 27 times before I hit the Publish button.

In a nutshell, I am me. And that's all I can honestly be (and apparently I'm a poet and didn't know it).

So what is the dumbest thing I've ever done? I tried to be someone I'm not.

I once tried to like Nascar just to fit in with people. Nascar! Now if that's your thing, more power to you, but it isn't for me. I'm lucky if I make through the warm up laps before I start snoring.

One time, I dressed in clothes that were uncomfortable to go hang out with people who made me feel uncomfortable.

I've even been mean to someone who was very dear to me, just to fit in with people who didn't even like me. (Note: This was in elementary school, but it doesn't make it less awful.)

The worst thing you can do is try to be someone you are not. Because, usually, no matter how hard you try, the real you will come out. Those "friends" who are too cool to binge watch Star Wars probably won't like you much when they walk into your Star Wars themed living room.

So be who you are, embrace all the quirky, different things about yourself! And eventually you will find others who enjoy the same things as you and are way more fun to hang out with anyway.

I Don't Get Fall

I don't mean that I don't understand it - I mean, where I live, I don't get a Fall Season. It sucks, I know. But that doesn't mean I can't get into the spirit, right?!

At every store I go to, be it a grocery store, convenience store, or craft store, all things pumpkins and spice are proudly displayed. I can buy a Pumpkin Spice flavored cookie (because as hot as it is still, I'm not drinking any hot beverages for months yet) or Pumpkin Spice scented sachets. Of course, if I use the sachets in my home and really get in the spirit of Fall, I'll need to turn the air conditioner down to about 60 degrees if I get in the mood to snuggle under the covers.

I can get on YouTube (shameless channel plug here) or Pinterest and get hundreds of Fall decorating ideas, and even DIY's. This is one of my favorite parts of Fall, other than football and prime time television.

I certainly wish we had the cooler temps where I live to go along with this bursting Fall spirit, but we do not. So, we're kind of just "faking" Fall with our Pumpkin Spiced everything and orange leafed wreaths (a whole other post, but why do we decorate our homes with dead leaves? I mean, I do it - video coming Friday! - but why?)

When we do finally get to pull out long sleeves, jeans, and boots, everyone else is celebrating Winter. We've completely bypassed Fall; we went straight into the coldest season around, and it's still sometimes hit or miss. By that, I mean, we get cooler temps and get to look cute with our jeans tucked into socks, tucked into boots OR we wear shorts and flip-flops until one day we wake up to an ice covered driveway. And occasionally, we get a great spring! That really makes me happy, when we have a spring and don't go from frozen to melting in a matter of days.

Even with the warm weather, sweating in October, and all the iced coffee I consume, I'm in the Fall spirit! I even cooked a crock pot full of vegetable soup yesterday (that was too hot to eat because it made my nose run and made me sweat, but man will it be good thawed and re-heated sometime in January or February!) I'm even going to decorate my home with some orange (dead) leaves and twigs and things.

But do you know what my #1 favorite thing about Fall is? That in a few months, it will be Christmas! And that is my favorite season of all! You think I'm excited about all things Pumpkin Spice, wait until I break out the Cinnamon scented everything!

Happy Fall Y'all!

The Walmart Beauty Box ~ $5 Seasonal Subscription Box

A week or so ago I saw something on Twitter about a Walmart Beauty Box. In the past I had purchased a $5 Target Beauty Box (click here to watch that un-boxing), but the Walmart box was news to me. Of course, I had to get it! Keep reading for my first impressions.

You can watch the un-boxing here: $5 Walmart Beauty Box ~ What's Inside?!

It was not a bad box for five bucks! I was actually pretty impressed. Here's what I got:

Secret Clinical Strength Deodorant - I have used it everyday since getting the box. It's not bad; not my favorite, but it works as deodorants do.

CoverGirl Glossy Days Glosstini Nail Polish in a bright yellow - Yellow is my favorite color. I can not complain!

Dove Oxygen Moisture Shampoo & Conditioner - I received a sample of these in a previous sample box. It works. I used it on vacation instead of hotel shampoo & conditioners.

L'Oreal Paris Glossy Balm in Ginger Candy - It's a very nude/ sheer color. I like it and will continue to use it. The only problem I've noticed is that it gets flaky throughout the day, even if I re-apply often.

Nicki Minaj Pink Friday perfume - I will be honest, I have so many perfumes that I need to use, I just sent this one as an extra with an eDivv trade I did. If it's great, I may regret it! Oh well, live and learn :)

Dove Pure Hair Dry Oil - I am such an oily girl, I am not a fan of putting extra oil on my hair or body. This will probably also go with an eDivv trade. (my name on there is ms_la_tn_grl)

L'Oreal Paris Youth Code Pore Vanisher - I have tried this in the past. It's not my favorite (Garnier Skin Renew 5 Sec Blur) but it will work until the sample is gone.

Neutrogena Nourishing Longwear Makeup with Tone Correcting Complex + a $2 coupon - These samples aren't big enough to do my whole, round face, so I may just use the coupon and throw the samples away. Or swatch on my channel....who knows?!

That's everything in the box for $5 - not too shabby! I am okay with spending that 4 times a year and getting samples. Some items I may not use but they can be passed along.

Perfectly Posh

A few weeks ago, on the Birchbloggers Facebook page, someone asked for volunteers to try new products. Of course, I said yes, please! I love trying new products and reviewing them. I hope you enjoy this post and check out Crystal's site: https://www.perfectlyposh.com/crystalmcginnis/products

Here are the samples she sent me and my thoughts on them:

Pamperology Honey & Annatto Mix a Fresh Mask - I did not use this product yet. But I will! I need some honey, avocado, or yogurt to mix with it and I'll be set!

Classic Snarky Bar - This is a scrubbing body bar that made my skin so soft! It has a lovely, soft scent. I could feel the gritty (but not harsh) texture. I used this on my elbows and feet. I will absolutely be purchasing this in the near future.

Mint For Each Other Body Scrub - This, of course, smelled like mint. I'm fine with that, I love mint! This was a very nice scrub. I used this, again, on my feet and elbows but I also tried it on my arms. It did make my skin soft. It is very chunky, as described. I think with continued use, this would be a great scrub to add to my skin softening routine.

Now to the products that I cannot wait to buy!!

Shine Bright Like a Diamond Microderm Scrub - I used this and can't wait for another week to pass to use again! My skin felt super soft after using, even the next day. It was thick but did not hurt when scrubbing my face. I cleaned my face before using this (as instructed), then used a makeup remover wipe after, just to be sure there was no leftover scrub or makeup - there was not. I would love to use this as part of my weekly mask/ exfoliating routine.

Hottie Patottie Big Fat Yummy Hand Creme - This is my favorite by far!! This hand creme smells so good! It absorbed quickly and did not leave my hands feeling greasy. I noticed the scent lasted into the morning (which I loved!) and made my skin very soft. Since getting pregnant, my hands have been drier than ever! This helped keep them from itching all morning! I would recommend keeping in your purse or bag, if possible, to reapply throughout the day.

As far as I can tell, these products are good quality and expensive. I believe every item is under $25.

Crystal also sent me The Posh Paper - a periodical paper that had mask recipes, product information, and more. There was also a printed info card attached to each sample telling me what the item does and how to use it - very helpful! Not to mention there was an adorable little bag to keep all my goodies!

All-in-all, I think the products are definitely must try! Crystal is such a nice person with great communication. I hope that if you use Perfectly Posh products, you'll give Crystal a chance at giving you great customer service.

*I received these products free of charge for review purposes.

Memebox Special #11 Cacao Has Arrived!! And It Smells Delicious!

A little while ago my friend Jen over at Jen Luv's Reviews opened a Memebox and talked about the upcoming boxes. As soon as I heard the words Chocolate and Cacao, I knew I had to buy that box! Immediately I got online and did just that.

I was not disappointed. The box arrived earlier than the email told me it would. I got my camera out and filmed the unboxing that night! Watch it here: My 1st Memebox! Special #11 Cacao

Here are the items I received and what I thought about them:

Milk Talk - The body wash:
I love this stuff ! It smells good enough to eat. It made my whole bathroom smelling like baking brownies or cupcakes. The scent did not seem to linger on my body, but I smelled and felt clean.

Cacao Brightening Mask:
This looks and smells just like chocolate sauce. I wanted to bad to put this on biscuits or pancakes! But I refrained, ha! I used it as directed and noticed my skin feel super soft. Did it brighten my skin? I'm not sure but I haven't used it on a consistent basis.

Pure Smile Essence Mask:
I have not used this. I'm a little afraid of these types of face masks. I may use this in an upcoming giveaway or use at a later date.

Vitamin Dessert Magic Creme:
Again, this smells just like chocolate! It's very thick and it lathered nicely in hands with water. I did not feel chunks of anything; it was smooth, kind of a whipped texture. When rinsing off, my face felt a little emollient, slightly oily. Once completely rinsed, my skin felt smooth and soft. I then used a makeup wipe remover to see if any residue was left over - none was except on eyes which I did not use this near my eyes.

Pure Smile Lip Scrub:
This reminds me of chocolate icing in the way it looks. There weren't granules like I thought there'd be. It did a great job of getting the dead skin off my lips though! I use this often now!! This maybe my favorite item in the box.

Purederm Nose Pore Strips:
I was not really a fan of these. I never used any other type of nose strips in the past. I felt like this took tiny hairs and possible some skin off my nose. It dried very hard and kind of hurt to get off.

What I really like about these boxes is that you're getting 5 - 6 full size products. It really is worth the price and the wait time (in my opinion). And isn't it fun to try things you wouldn't be able to try here in the U.S.?!

All in all, I loved this box! I may get another one this year.

eDivv.com ~ Trading Beauty Products ~ Yes, Please!!

Ladies, there is a website that allows you to trade beauty, lifestyle, and many more products! Trade, not buy, trade. How awesome is that?! Please note that some shops are selling items; if that's okay with you - shop on my friend!

I'm slightly addicted if you can't tell.

At the time of this post, I've completed 4 successful Divvy's and declined or had requests declined many other times. You'd think that would make me sad, but no! I understand, you're trading your items here. You should get what you believe to be a fair trade - it's so great!!

If you haven't been to the site, please click here: eDivv.com or use my link to sign up (I will get points): Refer A Friend

So, here's how it works (from eDivv.com):
'eDivv is a unique marketplace where you can negotiate, barter, and trade your beauty sample products. We’re revolutionizing the way exchanges are done online by developing the most innovative trading platform on the Internet.'
We believe you should have the opportunity to try any brand, any product, and any style you wish at ANY time…and have fun while doing it!

If you're unsure of anything, of course, there are FAQ's you can read. And if you ever need help, don't hesitate to contact them via email, instagram, or twitter!

Basically, you sign up and set up a shop. You have to put at least one item in your shop to begin. You then search for an item by brand (type in the search bar) or by category. It's pretty simple! You can let someone know you are interested in a product and they can then look through the items in your shop to see if they are interested in trading with you. Or you can send them items that you think would be a fair trade for the items you want from their shop.

Don't get your feelings hurt if someone declines your divvy! Everyone is just trying to get the best, most fair trade possible. It's all good!!

My only advice is to read all the descriptions. There are a lot of sample sizes and used products out there. I don't mind trading for samples or used, I just want to know for sure. Also, if you are unsure about the description, ask a question about the product. Once it's answered, you will get an email letting you know.

The customer service at eDivv.com is fantastic! When signing up, I had a problem confirming my email address. After I emailed them, they immediately started communication and did everything possible, in a timely manner, to help me get started. Awesome!

If you come across my shop - ms_la_tn_grl's, please feel free to contact me with any questions.

Happy divvy-ing!!

Cynthia Rowley Beauty ~ Spring Collection ~ Eye of the Day!!

Last month I received the Cynthia Rowley Beauty Spring Collection as a prize in a Birchbox Birchbloggers Twitter contest. Here is the original post: Birchbox ~ Cynthia Rowley Beauty Spring Collection ~ Full Review + Pictures

Today I am doing an eye of the day/ face of the day using this collection.

I am so excited to be able to try all these products! The eyeliners are my favorite!!

I did prime my eyes with the Milani Eyeshadow Primer in Nude (this may be the only color choice available from Milani). Then I used Marshmallow all over the lid, even up to the brow bone as my base and highlight color. I used Cotton Candy, a lovely purple/ lavender color in the crease and outer corner. To get some depth and definition for the look, I used Licorice. These shadows are soft and easily blend-able.

For eyeliners, I used Charcoal on the upper lashes and Silver on the inner corner of the eye. The Silver helps to open up the eye and gives a brightening effect. These eyeliners are super creamy and glide on with no pulling. They can be smudged out if you'd like, but stay put once they set.

I also went back to the Licorice and Cotton Candy shadows to line the lower lash line. It just helps to bring the whole look together.

For my lips today, I used the Creamy Lip Stain in Sugar - a soft, creamy pink. I'm in love with the lip stains as well. They are moisturizing and not at all drying.

I could not be happier with this collection. Let me know what you think of it!
